My introduction to Tex-Mex food was while writing a cookbook review on the Food and Flavors of San Antonio by Gloria Chadwick. Since I like to cook at least one or two recipes from any cookbook I review, for this cookbook I chose to make the Bean Tortilla Lasagna.
Now that was some spicy Black Bean Tortilla Lasagna! My family loved it! This cookbook has inspired me to venture out of my ‘comfort zone cuisine (Italian)’ and expand my cooking repertoire.
Visit Gloria Chadwick’s Web site, Foods and Flavors of San Antonio, to celebrate the launching of her new cookbook. Then head over to Mexican-American Border Cooking who is hosting a Food and Flavors of San Antonio cookbook give away this week. She has two copies to give away and the winners will also receive a copy of Mexican Chocolate Recipes. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

I was thinking about making *Italian* lasagna for dinner, but then I saw the recipe you made from my cookbook and decided to make this instead. It looks really good, Liliana. Thanks for mentioning the giveaway on Teresa’s blog. 🙂

My first thought was “How on earth is this your introduction to Tex-Mex food??” Then I realized you are in Canada. You poor thing! 🙂 I’m a Texas girl all the way, and can’t go more than about 24 hours without some sort of Tex-Mex food. I’m glad you enjoyed it, and you should definitely keep some good recipes handy – you won’t regret it.
