For the October 7th of the Tuesdays with Dorie baking event, Tammy of Wee Treats by Tammy chose Caramel-Peanut-Topped Brownie Cake on pages 264 and 265 of Dorie Greenspan’s book, Baking: From my Home to Yours.
This seemed like a simple recipe to make so I scheduled to make it yesterday afternoon just before I planned to finish roasting half bushel of Italian tomatoes. Instead of baking the cake in a spring form pan, I decided to use smaller spring form pans so I could freeze a couple to use at a later date. So, everything was going according to plan until I took a peek through the glass on the oven door. The batter has seeped through the spring form pans and onto the cookie sheet making a horrible mess. It seemed I didn’t close the pans properly. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I chose to laugh. Another episode to add to my baking bloopers.
I disposed of the evidence before anyone came home but not before I had a sampling of the baked batter. It was delicious! I was going to start all over again until I realized I had no more chocolate and those tomatoes were waiting their turn. So, this will be another recipe to add to my TWD ‘to do’ recipes.
Thanks Tammy for choosing this recipe. Check out the TWD Bakers Caramel-Peanut-Topped Brownie Cakes and Wee Treats by Tammy for the recipe.
Any baking bloopers you would like to share?

aawwww bummer! I hate when stuff like that happens. I am not sure I would have laughed like you but great baking attitude! Definitely give it a try again soon. The caramel is SO good!

Man that stinks! Better luck next time! I’ve seen a lot of people have issues with this recipe, know that you aren’t alone! My caramel didn’t turn out!

Oh, too bad! Better luck next time. Actually I thought the topping was the best part of the recipe — hope you get a chance to try it sometime.

Oh, darn! I hope you get a chance to give it a go someother time. I had to make mine twice. I probably would have ditched it but I had company coming.

That’s too bad, but I can’t help laugh thinking about the mess! I haven’t made mine yet either, but it sounds delicious.
